Our Present

WEDO in Action
Throughout 2024 we brought people together with the help of partners worldwide to form, organize around, and advocate for gender-just policies and a sustainable future.
As issues evolve, we adapt our strategies to build on wins and address setbacks. Read on for highlights about some of our key initiatives.
Gender-Just Climate Policy
We work alongside feminist activists worldwide to push for climate policies that advance justice. This year, we presented key policy demands at COP29, led advocacy efforts within the Women and Gender Constituency, and expanded the reach of the Gender Climate Tracker to strengthen accountability and action.
Grassroots Feminist Leadership
Climate and environmental justice starts with those on the frontlines — Black, Indigenous, and women of color, people with disabilities, LGBTQIA+ communities, migrants, and youth — who are leading solutions but are often excluded from decision-making. We support and resource grassroots feminist leaders, ensuring they have access to spaces of power, from global policy forums to movement convenings and coalitions.
Economic and Climate Justice
Our work around economic and climate justice was reinvigorated through the Feminist Action Nexus for Economic and Climate Justice initiative. This global collaboration produced A Blueprint for Feminist Economic Justice, an analysis on a Feminist Decolonial Global Green New Deal, and a brief on Human Rights & the Private Sector. We continue to drive systemic change by connecting economic, tax, and climate justice in our programming and advocacy.
Gender-Just Climate Solutions
Through the Gender Just Climate Solutions (GJCS) initiative, we uplift and scale community-driven solutions to the climate crisis. As leaders of the GJCS Scale Fund, we provide flexible, feminist funding to ensure frontline groups have the resources they need to implement transformative, gender-just climate action.
Gender + Environment Data Alliance
Launched in 2021, the Gender and Environment Data Alliance (GEDA) strengthens access to high-quality data at the intersection of gender and the environment. We co-convene GEDA alongside the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), bringing together major data producers to improve how gender-informed environmental policies are developed and implemented.
U.S. to Global Policy Advocacy
Our U.S. advocacy program bridges global justice efforts with domestic action. We work with coalitions like the Feminist Green New Deal Coalition and U.S. Climate Action Network to push for gender-just climate policies, climate finance accountability, and investments in a care-centered economy. By amplifying global feminist perspectives, we ensure bold, transformative climate action is driven by justice.

Working in Collaboration
Advocacy Goals
We worked collectively across our coalitions to push for representation in environmental and climate change decision-making spheres, including prioritizing an intersectional understanding of representation that cuts across gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation and gender identity. In partnership with the Women and Gender Constituency (WGC), we delivered collective demands to the COP29 Presidency, calling for gender equality both in leadership roles and in the outcomes of climate negotiations.
Results &
Resolutions
Our advocacy efforts drive impactful outcomes. While challenges remain, so do opportunities for continued progress.

Voices of Advocacy
I am so grateful to WEDO for the capacity strengthening provided to me - and the opportunity to be a trainer myself. I recently delivered a very well received presentation on the “state of play” on gender in the negotiations - to senior negotiators and representatives of the IPCC - and my work with WEDO has really made this all possible.
